Not too much to report this week writing-wise for me. As finals are just around the corner, I have been quite busy, but am currently feeling quite motivated and refreshed as a writer, having made a lot of progress with "Ghost of the Land", my final independent study story. After a preliminary round of workshopping with Mr. Litten, the piece has improved a lot, and I will be meeting with him again tomorrow to finalize the narrative and submit. A lot of creative energy has been poured into this work, and I will be proud to begin submitting it to literary magazines and post it on this website. It is very much a classic neo-western and draws a lot of inspiration from "All the Pretty Horses", but has a few interesting twists and enough unique elements (ghosts!) for the story to feel fresh and interesting. Very happy with the way it is turning out, and it seems that my new creative approach is yielding results thus far. Overall, however, this week has been mostly editing and thinking about where to take my writing next. I have a few ideas for how to reshape the literary magazine once I fully take the reins next year, as well as plans for the children's book I will soon begin writing. I am also very excited for my upcoming Kenyon writing program, which I have very high expectations for. Look for a lot more updates soon, and a longer entry once I get out of finals season and have much more time to write.
